Fire and Rescue
Students will be learning about the exciting field of public safety, including working closely with area fire and rescue squad departments.
The Fire and Rescue field is exploding with career and volunteer opportunities. Emergency responses are increasing by 10 percent each year, requiring more career staff and volunteers to answer the emergency calls.
Students will be trained in public service areas and will help make a difference in the community with career opportunities such as EMT, Firefighter, and Firefighter/EMT.
Skills learned through this program will enhance any person in the work force due to the thorough training in rescue techniques.
Students will have the opportunity to join SkillsUSA, a national student organization, and compete with other schools in Firefighting Contests at district, state, and national levels.
Upon completion of the first year of the program, students will have the opportunity to be certified in Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Hazmat Awareness, CPR and First Aid, and ICS 100, 200, 700 after passing the state exams.
Upon completion of the second year of the program, students will have the opportunity to be certified Natioally Registered EMT, ICS 800 after passing state exams.
