Engineering Technology

Have you ever wondered…

  • if a house could be made of aluminum cans and plastic bottles?
  • how a car can be welded together by a robot?
  • how a car can run on used cooking oil from McDonald’s?
  • how a house can be heated using only solar power?
  • how a jet of water can cut through 1” thick steel?
  • how the Empire State Building is constructed?

If your favorite TV shows are the Discovery Channel’s “MythBusters” and the Science Channel’s “How It’s Made” and “Factory Made,” then MTC’s Engineering Technology Program is for YOU!!!

Career Options

All engineers design things and all manufacturers make products. Green engineers and manufacturers try to make products that have a lower environmental impact than other products. Examples include carpets made from recycled plastic bottles, cars that use electric power instead of gasoline, and light bulbs that consume less electricity. Green engineering and manufacturing is one of the fastest growing professional fields and thus a great career option.

Career Opportunities include:

  • Production Line Operator
  • Assembly and Fabrication Workers
  • Production Planner / Scheduler
  • Air / Water Quality Technician
  • Manufacturing Engineering Technician
  • Technology Sales
  • Industrial Machinery Mechanic
  • Environmental Engineering Technician
  • Associate / Bachelors Engineering Student

Mission

Massanutten Technical Center will provide high school and adult students with the skills, knowledge, and industry-based experiences necessary to attain success in career and community.
