Criminal Justice II

Students learn the legal foundations and processes, the principles, techniques, and practices for exploring careers within the criminal justice system, and the history of terrorism in the United States. Students combine classroom instruction and supervised, practical experience throughout the school year.Career Clusters and Pathways;Law, Public Safety, Corrections and Security,Correction Services,Emergency Management Services,Law Enforcement Services,Legal Services,Security and Protective Services. Students have the opportunity for dual enrollment with Mary Baldwin College earning 3 credits and will receive a weighted grade. Certifications: ICS-200, NOCTI, CPR/1st Aid.

Graduates of the Criminal Justice Program are eligible for employment with sheriff's offices, with metropolitan and rural police departments, and with the Virginia State Police in various capacities.

Students can be employed as correctional officers in the Commonwealth of Virginia upon graduation from the program when they reach the age of 18; however, students must be 21 to apply for most other law enforcement positions.
