What can MTC offer in terms of Information Technology?

The information technology classes at MTC provide students with the opportunity to develop skills needed to begin a career in building, installing, troubleshooting, and securing computers. The 3 classes offered include A+, Network + and Security+. The curriculum will prepare the student to take the CompTia exams in those specific areas - a necessary step to become a certified technician.

A+ Certification:

The A+ Certification for Computer Repair Technicians prepares individuals for employment in the computer repair industry. The course covers both hardware and software, along with an introduction to networking terminology and equipment, in preparation for passing the A+ Certification examination.

Network + Certification

The Network + Certification for Computer Repair Technicians prepares individuals for employment in the network management industry. The course covers both the hardware and software components of a network, along with networking terminology and equipment, in preparation for passing the Network + Certification examination.

  • Setting up Standard Operating Procedures
  • Administering the Network
  • Planning a Customer's Job
  • Maintaining the Network
  • Implementing a Change Control System

Network Practices:

  • Implementing the installation of a Network
  • Managing Support Efforts
  • Troubleshooting the Network
  • Designing the Network
  • Analyzing/Evaluating the Accountability of New Technology
  • Developing Documentation, SOPs

Security + Certification:

The Security + class gives a student the knowledge necessary to defend a Network or a home computer from attacks, hackers, viruses, malicious code, and computer crime. This class prepares the student to pass the CompTia Security + Certification Test.

  • Hardening of Operating Systems against attacks
  • Securing web servers, FTP servers, DNS servers, and e-mail servers

  • Network monitoring and Intrusion Detection
